Honda Cars India has finally launched the highly anticipated third-generation Amaze. A cornerstone of the brand’s success in India, the Amaze contributes over 40 percent of Honda’s sales in the country. Following the second-gen update in 2018, the latest iteration comes with a radically new design, upgraded features, enhanced safety, and a refreshed cabin.
The new Amaze will compete in the highly competitive compact sedan market with rival models like the Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor, and the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Dzire. Here, let’s take a look at how the model stacks up against the Dzire in terms of engine, features, safety, pricing, and more.

The new Honda Amaze retains the familiar 1.2-litre NA petrol engine from its predecessor. Delivering 90 hp and 110 Nm of peak torque, it is paired with either a five-speed manual or a CVT, the latter also featuring paddle shifters.
In contrast, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire is powered by a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine, producing 82 hp and a slightly higher torque of 112 Nm. It offers a choice between a 5-speed manual and an AMT.

Both the Honda Amaze and Maruti Suzuki Dzire are generously equipped with features. The Amaze boasts a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and connected car tech. Other highlights include LED projector headlamps, fog lamps, wireless charging, auto climate control, push-button start/stop, rear AC vents, three-point seat belts for all passengers, and a rear armrest among others.
The Dzire ups the game with a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro Plus infotainment system featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a 360-degree camera and connected car capabilities. Additional features include a segment-first sunroof, cruise control, LED projector headlamps, diamond-cut alloy wheels, remote keyless entry, and front and rear power windows.

With Indian buyers increasingly prioritizing safety, both the Honda Amaze and Maruti Suzuki Dzire come equipped with a host of safety features. Interestingly, The new Maruti Dzire has already bagged an impressive 5-star rating from Global NCAP, making it the first Maruti to achieve it. Its safety suite includes six airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, brake assist, three-point seat belts for all seats, and ISOFIX mounts.
The Honda Amaze, on the other hand, offers six airbags as standard, a lane watch camera, hill start assist, traction control, ESC, and the advanced Honda Sensing ADAS suite. This also makes the Amaze India’s most affordable car to feature ADAS. The brand also revealed that multiple internal crash tests were conducted to ensure the model’s robust safety standards.

In terms of pricing, the Honda Amaze is available in three variants, V, VX, and ZX. The introductory prices start at Rs 7.99 lakh, ex-showroom, and go up to Rs 10.89 lakh, ex-showroom, for the top-spec trim.
Meanwhile, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire offers greater variety with four trims: LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. Prices for the Dzire start at Rs 6.79 lakh, ex-showroom, and go up to Rs 10.14 lakh for the fully loaded ZXi+ variant. This gives the Dzire a more budget-friendly edge, particularly in its entry-level offerings.
