Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is gearing up to make its debut in the electric mobility segment with the launch of its first electric scooter on November 27. The company has been steadily building excitement by dropping teasers that reveal glimpses of the EV’s design and features. The latest teaser has confirmed one of its standout features: a dual swappable battery system.

Honda Activa electric: What we know so far

The latest teaser confirms that the model will be equipped with two swappable batteries, stored under the seat. This system will likely benefit from Honda’s existing battery-swapping ecosystem in India under the Honda e:Swap service.
The scooter is expected to offer a range of 104 km in Standard mode, with a Sport mode also available for enhanced throttle response, as revealed in earlier teasers. The top-spec variant will feature a multi-colour TFT screen with smartphone connectivity, while the standard version will come with a modest LCD screen.

Mechanically, the scooter is anticipated to share its powertrain with the Honda CUV e:, which was recently unveiled at EICMA 2024. It is expected to come equipped with a swingarm-mounted motor. Previous teasers have also hinted at features like LED headlamps and a well-contoured seat.
Honda’s electric scooter will compete in a crowded market that includes established players such as the Ather 450S, Ola S1, Hero Vida, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak. Although Honda is a late entrant to the electric scooter segment, it will likely bring the powerful legacy of the Activa brand. If Honda combines the trusted Activa name with competitive pricing and robust features, the new electric model could significantly disrupt the market.
