Major automakers reported an increase in domestic passenger vehicle sales, fueled by robust SUV demand, steady rural sales, and the ongoing wedding season boost. November saw a varied sales performance across major automakers in India, with some witnessing significant growth and others facing a decline. Here’s how the numbers stack up:
Maruti Suzuki India
Maruti Suzuki recorded a robust 10% year-on-year growth in total sales, dispatching 1,81,531 units in November 2024, up from 1,64,439 units in the same month last year. Domestic PV sales rose by 5%, reaching 1,41,312 units as compared to 1,34,158 units last year.
Segment-wise, utility vehicles like Brezza, Ertiga, Grand Vitara, and XL6 led the charge with 59,003 units sold, a significant rise from 49,016 units in November 2023.

Tata Motors
Tata Motors reported a marginal rise in overall sales, totaling 74,753 units in November 2024, slightly up from 74,172 units in the same period last year. Domestic sales increased by 1%, reaching 73,246 units compared to 72,647 units in November 2023.
Passenger vehicle (PV) sales, including electric vehicles, grew by 2%, hitting 47,117 units as against 46,143 units in November 2023. Within this, domestic PV sales also saw a 2% uptick, standing at 47,063 units compared to 46,068 units in the same month last year.
Hyundai Motor India
Hyundai faced a decline in sales, with total sales dropping by 7% year-on-year to 61,252 units in November 2024, compared to 65,801 units last year. Domestic sales saw a slight dip of 2%, totaling 48,246 units, while exports dropped sharply by 20% to 13,006 units.
Despite the decline, SUVs remained a stronghold for Hyundai, contributing 68.8% of its domestic sales.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor
Toyota registered a 44% year-on-year surge in sales, reaching 25,586 units in November 2024, up from 17,818 units last year. This marked a significant boost for the automaker.
MG Motor India
MG Motor India posted a strong 20% year-on-year growth, with 6,019 units sold in November 2024. The MG Windsor remained a key driver of sales, contributing 3,144 units. Notably, the company’s New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) accounted for over 70% of total sales.
As of the time this report was filed, only these manufacturers have released their sales figures. Results from brands like Honda, Kia, and Mahindra and others are still awaited.
